Randy & Lurline Moore
(925) 455-9782 Preparations are in progress for the 27th Annual Livermore Community Thanksgiving Dinner. This dinner is not just for seniors or needy, it's for ANY ONE that doesn't want to be alone on Thanksgiving Day. The original idea for this dinner was that there are a lot of people transplanted to this area with no relatives nearby. We felt they needed a place to go on Thanksgiving Day so they wouldn't be alone. This was never intended to be a "soup kitchen" for the homeless or part of a meal program for seniors. It was meant to be a COMMUNITY dinner and ALL are welcome including homeless, seniors, singles, families, and any one else that would like to attend and make new friends. This is not a charity dinner but it is free to all. If you don't like getting something for nothing, you can lend a hand, entertain other guests, make a donation, whatever you want, but it is not required. This event is supported by contributions from individuals and local businesses. It is non-religious and non-political, we are not sponsored by any religious or political group but we will take donations from anyone. We have no politicians making speeches or shaking hands (we do occasionally
have a Judge carving turkeys) nor do we have any sermons that you have
to listen to. We do have a traditional Thanksgiving meal including turkey,
dressing, gravy, mashed potatoes, yams, green beans, salad, and every
type of dessert imaginable. We also provide live entertainment, a children's
playroom and Santa has been known to make an appearance. If you have any other questions please call (925) 455-9782. |
