Who should attend a Tres Dias weekend?

Anyone age 21 or older who seeks a closer relationship with Jesus Christ is welcome to attend Tres Dias, regardless of church affiliation or denomination. Whether you are a new Christian or a spiritually mature Christian, Tres Dias provides an opportunity for you to spend three days in the presence of God, experiencing His unmerited grace and unconditional love. If you wonder whether you should attend, ask yourself this question:  What impact would a solid 72 hours spent in communion with Jesus through the Holy Spirit have on your spiritual walk?  If the answer appeals to you, register to attend the scheduled weekend.

What about confidentiality?

Many of the speakers on a Tres Dias weekend will share some very personal and intimate aspects of their lives as part of their Christian testimony. They share their stories with the understanding that it won’t become gossip. By the same token, attendees on a weekend may choose to share something personal as well. Although activities that occur on a Tres Dias weekend may be freely shared, we ask all who attend a weekend to honor the confidentiality of personal sharing and testimony. Nothing of a personal nature that was shared on a weekend should ever leave the weekend.

How can I find a sponsor if I don’t know anyone who has attended a weekend?

If you’re interested in attending Lehigh Valley Tres Dias but do not know anyone who can serve as your sponsor on the weekend, please email us. There are many people within our community who would be happy to serve as your sponsor on a weekend.

My pastor has never heard of Tres Dias. Are there any pastors he could speak with about the weekend?

Absolutely! There are several pastors within the Lehigh Valley Tres Dias community who have a long history with Tres Dias. They have witnessed first-hand how those who attend these weekends return to their churches “on fire” for Christ; excited to serve hand-in-hand with pastors in whatever capacity is needed. Clergy are encouraged to visit the Pastor’s Corner page for a better understanding of the affect Tres Dias can have on a congregation. Pastors should also view What Happens on a Tres Dias Weekend and The Essentials of Tres Dias to learn about the structure that is followed for each weekend held. For more information or to request a personal phone call pastor-to-pastor, please email us.

Is Tres Dias a denomination?

No. Tres Dias is not a denomination or a substitute for church. Participation in Tres Dias cannot replace active, contributing membership in your church. It can only help awaken the need for Christ in your life or strengthen the walk you already have with Him.

Is Tres Dias a cult?

This is perhaps the most important question you could ask. And we’re happy to answer it – NO, Tres Dias is NOT a “cult” in any way. When Tres Dias first began, the early participants felt that the weekends were such a blessing, they didn’t want to “spoil” special parts of it for future attendees. These “blessings” were treated in much the same way as a surprise party would be – it wasn’t that people couldn’t discuss it; they just didn’t want to spoil the blessing someone else would experience. As a result, people began referring to the blessings as “secrets” within the weekend. Over time, and particularly with the advent of the Internet, stories of secrecy began to spread, resulting in rumors that Tres Dias must be a “cult,” since secrecy is one of the hallmarks of a cult. However, there are NO secrets in Tres Dias. There are “blessings” that enhance the weekend experience, but they are NOT secrets. In the interest of full disclosure, you can view or print “The Essentials of Tres Dias”  or What Happens on a Tres Dias Weekend” to see exactly how the weekends progress. To be a chartered community, every local Tres Dias chapter must strictly adhere to the Essentials, including the required talks, meditations, and dynamics. In addition to the Essentials, local communities are free to incorporate additional activities designed to enhance the weekend. These include things like a forgiveness service, a serenade, a candlelit circle of sharing God’s love, or special chapel services. All extra and Essential elements of Tres Dias are honoring to God; there is nothing sinister, doctrinal or evasive about Tres Dias. You will not be asked to adhere to any particular doctrine, other than the Lordship of Jesus Christ. If you have any additional questions about Tres Dias, please email us.

I can’t take off work on Friday. May I attend Saturday and Sunday only?

The activities of Thursday evening and Friday are important in setting the stage for the rest of the weekend. Your participation is very important. If you cannot rearrange your schedule to be able to attend the entire weekend, you should plan to attend the next available weekend so you can experience ALL the Lord has for you on your Tres Dias.

If something comes up, may I leave the weekend and return later?

The activities and talks presented on the weekend are designed to build upon prior talks and events. If you miss portions of the weekend, it may affect the quality of your weekend. For that reason, if something comes up that requires you to leave the weekend, you will be considered to have not completed the weekend and may return for a later weekend. Please keep in mind that coming to Tres Dias is voluntary. The Lord is asking you to willingly step away from the business and distractions of life to spend quality time with Him for three full days. It is up to you to willingly do so, regardless what things come up.

What if my spouse doesn’t want to attend?

At Tres Dias, we believe that the husband is the spiritual head of the home and has the Biblical responsibility to guide his wife in spiritual matters. We also believe in fostering an environment where husbands and wives can grow in their faith equally and in unity; not one ahead of the other. If possible, married couples should attend the same set of Tres Dias weekends. If that is not possible, LVTD requires that husbands attend a weekend prior to their wives attending. Any request for an exception to this requirement will be handled on a case-by-case basis.

Where does Tres Dias take place?

Lehigh Valley Tres Dias weekends are held on the beautiful, serene campus of Twin Pines Camp, Conference & Retreat Center located at 3000 Twin Pines Rd, Stroudsburg, PA 18360.

How do I register to attend the weekend?

Complete the LVTD Weekend Registration Form and submit it with your $50 deposit to your sponsor, who will submit them to Tres Dias on your behalf. You will receive a letter confirming your registration and providing you with additional information about what to bring on the weekend.

What happens on the weekend?

There is a series of 15 talks given by laity and clergy members. These talks followed by discussion in small groups provide the basis for “a short course in Christianity.” During the weekend, you will reflect on your walk with Christ and how you are putting your faith into action. There will also be singing, prayer, fellowship, and plenty of food! Tres Dias is meant to be a spark that lights the fires in our hearts so we burn brightly in our world as we share Christ with others.

What is expected of participants?

All that is expected of you is for you to be open to the Lord’s leading throughout the weekend. Be introspective about your Christian life; curious enough to seek God and listen to His still small voice. We ask that you reserve any judgment of the weekend until you complete it.

What time can I expect to get home on Sunday?

Tres Dias typically ends by 5 pm. Your Sponsor will coordinate with you a time to pick you up and take you home.

What happens after the weekend?

Typically, people who attend a Tres Dias weekend return from it with a refreshed commitment to serve the Lord however He has called them to do so. They may become more active in their church. They may get involved in additional ministries outside of church. In either case, the Tres Dias community offers strength and support to one another so that all may grow in faith and service to the Lord. Specifically, Tres Dias offers a network of “small groups” or monthly meetings in which you can choose to become involved. No one will force you to add anything else to your already busy “to do” list. Your participation in any future Tres Dias activities is entirely voluntary.
